Rev. Leo Kinuthia
The School of Bible and Theology is the oldest of the two schools at KAG EAST University. It is the school that continues the original focus of the now defunct East Africa School of Theology (EAST) which was training in Bible and Theology. Its mission and vision is to advance the general mission and vision of the University.
SBT prides itself in providing training that produces servant leaders with critical skills to advance the Gospel in 21st Century. The curriculum is designed to offer spiritual, ministry, and character training. To this extent, the faculty are drawn from diverse backgrounds, skills, experiences, and cultures so that the students are all-rounded by the time they graduate.
The academic environment is critical to students’ performance. SBT ensures that students receive administrative support, coaching, mentoring, and academic counseling in the course of their studies. There are dynamic Chapel services and co-curricular activities like sports, clubs, and fellowships known as Diakonia (male students) and Koinonia (female students).
The world today needs leaders and ministers who can thrive in an environment that is regarded as volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. Coupled with ballooning youthful population and rapid urbanization, those who will make an edge need exposure to wide learning experiences that steadily balance theory and praxis. SBT places high premium on competencies, learner-centered teaching philosophy, and practicums.
SBT has integrated technology in the academics. There is reliable internet on the campus, collaboration with Safaricom to provide data at affordable prices, and Online learning in all the programs. Students have an opportunity to take In-person, Online, and Blended Learning. Whatever the age, gender, or locality SBT ensures everyone has an opportunity to take biblical and theological education either on campus or from the conveniences of their homes or offices.
